Iron Man 3 Official Synopsis Serves Up Some Revenge

With five and a half months left until Iron Man 3 hits theaters, Disney has decided that now is the right time to release the official synopsis for the upcoming flick.

The plot summary is generally vague, but does tease some elements of the movie that we hadn’t known about before. Though there’s no specific mention of Pepper Potts, Rhodey or even The Mandarin, it’s exciting to finally get a sense of where the film is headed. Check out the full synopsis after the jump.

“Marvel Studios’ ‘Iron Man 3’ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds,” the synopsis reads. “When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

It is curious that Marvel didn’t name The Mandarin as the enemy repeatedly mentioned in the synopsis even though we already know he’s in the movie. Maybe Disney didn’t feel it was right to include what his role in the larger story is because it would be too much of a spoiler. Regardless, we can’t wait to — hopefully soon! — get our first look of how Ben Kingsley looks as the character.
