Greg Rucka has revealed that he was to pen Wonder Woman Earth One.
JH Williams was to reteam with him on DC Comics’ graphic novel, the writer has revealed to 3 Chicks Review Comics.
“I, at one point, was supposed to write Wonder Woman Earth One like they did with Superman and Batman,” said Rucka in DC Women Kicking Ass’s transcription. “JH [Williams] was going to draw it.”
Grant Morrison has said that he is working on a Wonder Woman project, which is widely rumored to be a new ‘Earth One’ book. His Batman Incorporated collaborator Yanick Paquette is expected to join him.
“I was told I was not going to do it,” continued Rucka. “Dan DiDio called me and told me he was giving it to someone else.
“And I said if you take that away from me I can no longer work for you because I have taken many a job for you, sir, on the promise of doing this and now you’re taking it away and I can no longer accept your promises any more. He had his reasons for doing it; this is not me throwing stones. This is just the way things shook out.”
Rucka and Williams worked together on the acclaimed Batwoman-starring run of Detective Comics before the writer announced his departure from DC.
Wonder Woman is currently guest-starring in Williams’s Batwoman.
