Avengers 2 Could Feature The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

You know your film is doing well when, before it is even released, you’re discussing who might be in a sequel!

Avengers Assemble (so named to keep moviegoers from mixing up this film with the Steed and Peel Avengers) premiered in the UK recently in London. Ben Mortimer of HeyUGuys was there to ask producer Kevin Feige about future Marvel projects.

“Feige reveals a number of tantalising bits of information in the interview, both about Avengers Assemble and future Marvel Studios projects,” said bleedingcool.com. “Most interesting of all are the rights surrounding Marvel characters Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch, the twin children of Magneto who also appear in the Avengers universe. According to Feige, both Fox and Marvel have the rights to use the characters in their franchises, since they are both X-Men and Avengers in equal measure.”

It’s a little complicated, but if they wanted to use them in an X-Men movie they could, and if we wanted to use them in an Avengers movie we could.

The sequel to X-Men: First Class (Second Class?) will filming during the beginning of 2013, and a sequel to Avengers Assemble is planned though not yet official. The site speculates that both The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver could make an appearance in both films.

Of course, long-time fans remember that the two mutants became members of the Avengers back in issue #16 when everyone but Captain America decided to step back from full-time status. Hawkeye also joined at that time.

Watch the video for more information about why Skrulls were not used in Avengers Assemble, as well as some hints as to when Ant Man will begin filming. Apologies for the commercial!

The Avengers finally debuts in the U.S. on May 4. Here’s the film’s description: “Nick Fury is director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency. The agency is a who’s who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When global security is threatened by Loki and his cohorts, Nick Fury and his team will need all their powers to save the world from disaster.”

Interestingly enough, IMDB points out the following: “Two founding members, Henry Pym (Ant Man/Giant Man) and his wife Janet (Wasp), of the Avengers are not included in this movie.”
