Penny Arcade Moves to Oni Press
Penny Arcade has announced a new partnership with Oni Press.
It will become the official publisher of the long-running hit webcomic from August, 2012, it was announced at Emerald City Comicon.
Oni will begin by issuing Magical Kids in Danger, the eighth Penny Arcade anthology, which will collect all of Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik’s strips from 2007 to the present.
“This was a no-brainer for us,” said Oni Press publisher Joe Nozemack. “The guys at Penny Arcade are driven by the same rebellious desire to create that led to our starting Oni Press.
“We emerged from the same zeitgeist. The first Oni Press comic was published at the end of 1997, and Penny Arcade hit the web in 1998. We aren’t just peers, we come from the same graduating class.”
The often topical webcomic stars Holkins and Krahulik’s irreverent alter-egos Jonathan “Gabe” Gabriel and Tycho Brahe.
Penny Arcade vol 8: Magical Kids in Danger will be released on August 29.
