Catwoman Short to be Screened at New York Comic Con

A new animated Catwoman short will be screened for the first time at this year’s New York Comic Con, it was announced this morning, and Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video and DC Entertainment unveiled an intriguing official image from the 15-minute cartoon.

The short, written by Paul Dini and featuring the voicework of Eliza Dushku as Catwoman, features the feline fatale in a race against villain Rough Cut to track down a cargo shipment. DC Showcase: Catwoman (as the short is referred to in the IMDB) will be included in highly anticipated release of the original animated movie Batman: Year One, which also features Dushku and will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand October 18th.

The released image is of a Catwoman that looks very much like the current incarnation — one with its roots in the Darwyn Cooke/Ed Brubaker version of the character. What can we expect from this animated Catwoman? If it’s successful, might we see more cartoons starring the popular DC character? Well, if you’re at NYCC this year, you can check out the screening on Friday October 14th at 3:00, during a DC Universe Animated Original Movies panel that will feature Justice League: Doom in addition to Catwoman and B.Y.O.
