Christopher Nolan Will Direct Batman 3

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, folks: Christopher Nolan is officially directing a third Batman movie. What was once a safe assumption is now officially confirmed, as the director of The Dark Knight has revealed that he’s booked his flight for a return trip to Gotham City.

“It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way,” Nolan told Empire Online of “Batman 3.” “I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing so… If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it.”

For further clarification, Empire directly asked Nolan if it’s safe to assume that he’s directing the third “Batman” film. His reply: “I think you can at this point, yes.”

Additionally, Empire learned that Nolan is currently working on his brother Jonathan Nolan’s script for “Batman 3,” indicating that progress is certainly being made on the film’s story.

With a July 20, 2012 release date previously announced, one of the next questions that needs to be answered is when “Batman 3” will move into production. Well, we might have an answer to that one thanks to Michael Caine, who told Coming Soon that the movie will “probably start in May next year.” He also mentioned that the Nolan brothers aren’t telling anyone who the villain will be in the new film at this point in time.
