Neon Keyboard Pt 3

Next we have the hardest part
Ok, it's not that hard but trying to get the wires to fit in the space provided AND making sure that the keyboard will close when you go to reassemble AND making sure that when the cathodes light up they don't have some rogue cable blocking thier brillance, is what I mean by hard part.

As a side mod when I had the keyboard open I found that I was looking at some boring green LED's for the number lock, caps lock and scroll lock and wanting to keep within the theme of "The Furnace" I found that I had some spare red LED's in my bits box so with a quick solder job I had the ugly green ones out and the cool red ones in!

Back to the wiring I found getting the cathodes lined up in the correct spots and then placing the inverter when I thought the best place was. Not that the inverter needs in in a keyboard, it is backed by double sided tape so I stuck it in place.

Speaking of the inverter, seeing that each cathode had it's own, I found on the wiring diagram for it that it could support 2 cathodes with a minor mod of pinching the plug where the cathode attached to the inverter and the capastor that when with it.
Now remember I did this as a guess that it worked and was glad that it did in the end because it prevented me having to get anymore cathodes for thier inverters since I would have killed 2.

Once I had an idea where both cathodes were going and the inverter was in place it came to shorten and lengthen the wires for both of the cathodes... which was an easy task and it helps hold them in the correct spots (since I couldn't figure out a way to attach them).

While we are at this stage I also wired up the switch so the earth coming in from the computer's 12V and then to the inverters earth. The active was also wired up and heat shrunk to cover all exposed wires.

And from here all there is left to do is to close it up and get ready to see if it works!
