Today we have a trio of exclusive images from the project that debuted during the Halo-8 panel in Comic-Con.

Directed by Matt Pizzolo, “Black Sky” is a post-apocalyptic story described as “‘Band of Brothers’ vs. ‘Cthulhu.’” Planned as both a comic and an illustrated film produced by Halo-8, “Black Sky” is expected to debut this Fall.

At Halo-8′s “Illustrated Films & Comics” panel during SDCC10, Ben Templesmith unveiled brand new artwork for his upcoming post-apocalyptic epic BLACK SKY, a dark war-movie-style adventure described as Band of Brothers vs Cthulhu.

BLACK SKY is in production at Halo-8 as both a comic book and an “illustrated film” to be directed by Matt Pizzolo (GODKILLER).

Templesmith was joined on the panel by illustrated-film developers Pizzolo and Brian Giberson, as well as fellow creator Tim Seeley (whose LOADED BIBLE will next receive adaptation as an illustrated film) and movie producer FJ DeSanto (The Spirit, upcoming The Shadow).

Templesmith and Pizzolo announced the BLACK SKY comic book and illustrated film will debut this Fall.

Pizzolo explained at C2E2 “on first glance, ill-films and motion comics

people captured on 35mm film doesn’t make it the same thing as Full Metal
Jacket.’ We’re filmmakers so we’re bringing a cinematic sensibility to
this. We animate motion in the frame, but the need for motion is different
in film… it’s not like Michael Madsen bounces around the frame in
Reservoir Dogs the way Wakko does in Animaniacs.” The first ill-film was
GODKILLER, whose breakout success led to the launch of an entire slate of
upcoming ill-films. GODKILLER’s expectation-beating release included a
platform theatrical run, multiple sold-out DVD pressings (including various
shortform episodic DVDs), and VOD distribution into 75 million homes.
Upcoming ill-films currently in production include Ben Templesmith’s BLACK
SKY, the giallo-horror THE LONG KNIVES, James Farr’s XOMBIE: REANIMATED,
and Tim Seeley’s LOADED BIBLE.

According to Variety, Mandeville Films (a subsidiary company of Disney) and Top Cow made a deal during last week’s San Diego Comic-Con International to bring “Crosshair” — one of the 2010 “Pilot Season” books — to the big screen. “Crosshair” was created and co-written by Marc Silvestri and Jeff Katz, with art by Allan Jefferson.

The one-shot comic — which will be released this October — follows a former CIA assassin turned family man named Justin Weller who discovers that he’s been brainwashed to kill the President and he has less than two days to uncover the conspiracy behind it before someone triggers his “programming,” which may be irreversible once active.

Last year, Mandeville and Top Cow also teamed up for an adaptation of Joshua Hale Fialkov and Jeremy Haun’s “Alibi,” which was latter picked up by Summit, the production company behind “Twilight.”

While Silvestri is well known for co-founding Image, penciling a long and memorable run on “Uncanny X-Men” as well as numerous creator owned titles including “Cyberforce,” Katz has also made a name for himself in comics as the co-writer of “Booster Gold” with Geoff Johns and as a producer on X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Over a year ago, Katz announced the creation of his own company, American Original which included a deal to publish comics through Top Cow. Earlier this year, Top Cow and American Original released a comic book adaptation of The Crazies.

The clip is directed by Alex Winter of “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” fame, who’s also directed several live-action “Ben 10″ movies for Cartoon Network, as well as various other films. It debuted on Bleeding Cool, which indicated that the footage was made “under tight constraints and with minimal resources.” The version of Blue Beetle that appears in the footage is the one designed by “Red” co-creator Cully Hamner.

There’s no word on whether we’ll actually see the series at some point (or where it could end up), but there’s also no denying how cool it looks, right? Keep your fingers crossed, people.

The storytelling picks up in the aftermath of Walt Disney Pictures’ first film in its franchise TRON.  Kevin Flynn is now in charge of Encom, the world’s largest video game company.  Kevin, a break-through game developer, has built the Grid, a digital world filled with living programs.  This new virtual world is about to develop a life of its own and, in order to control it, Flynn’s going to need to help of an old friend…named Tron.

Based on the comic created by James O’Barr, Norrington’s screenplay was set in two locations: “the southwest — the Mexico/Arizona area — and an urban [setting] — Detroit or Pittsburgh or something like that.”

Cave made his screenwriting debut with John Hillcoat’s 1988 prison drama Ghosts … of the Civil Dead and wrote Hillcoat’s The Proposition.

A 1994 adaptation, starring Brandon Lee, was directed by Alex Proyas.

Allison written by Myself and illustrated by horror master Tim Vigil, colored by Joe Vigil, a lovesick man tries to ressurect his dead lover with horrifying results. Bond follows a lone survivor in a zombie holocaust (by Euro guys Bartosz Sztybor and Macie Wodz). Grmbghraaaaagh! (by Bartosz Sztybor and Pawel Wojiechowicz) is a tale of zombies trying to escape what they are. Dead of Night by Joie Simmons is a great B&W tale. David Paleo brings Rot Clowns, which is rendered in a great old school brush style. Bunker Buster (Illustrated by Steve Mannion) is a tale of Nazi Scientists trying to engineer zombie super-soldiers. Aaron Rintoul brings When we Disappear, a esoteric tale of zombie armageddon where we track two lovers trying to survive. Other tales by Robert S. Rhine (Girls and Corpses) , Nenad Gucunja, JC Wong, myself and others. Also includes a special preview of the upcoming voodoo/zombie series Undead Evil illustrated by Nenad Gucunja.

Shipping this Sept for the Halloween season will be Zombie Terrors (ISBN13: 978-1-61724-001-0 ), a 152 page anthology of stories based on the undead. It features writers and artist from all over the world.
