Palmiotti and Gray Partner with Film Studio For Western Abaddon

Deadline reports that Adaptive Studios, the studio behind the new season of “Project Greenlight,” has created Adaptive Comics, a new division set to produce comic books and graphic novels headlined by the writing team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray (“Jonah Hex,” “Power Girl”). The first project from the duo for the newly formed Adaptive Comics is “Abbadon,” a western thriller based on a 2011 screenplay written by Spencer Marstiller.

Palmiotti and Gray have turned to Kickstarter to fund the “Abbadon” graphic novel, written by the two, with art by Fabrizio Fiorentino (“All-Star Western”) and Alessia Nocera, design and lettering by John J. Hill and a cover by Tim Bradstreet.

On the Kickstarter page, the mature-readers story is described as “an unconventional Western set in a town where illicit sex, gambling and even murder are legal under the right conditions.” More details are also available on the page, along with a preview and character sketches. If successful, this will be the eighth project Palmiotti has funded on Kickstarter.

Adaptive Studios launched last summer, and the return of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s “Project Greenlight” is expected to air on HBO in spring 2015.
