Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to Play Black Adam in Shazam Film

SHAZAM! Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will FINALLY be playing Black Adam!

That’s right, this morning on Twitter, The Rock confirmed that he will in fact play the role of the Marvel family anti-hero Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam movie from Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

Black Adam, originally known as Teth Adam, first appeared in Marvel Family #1 in 1945, and since has played the role of both hero and villain, most recently in Forever Evil.

For years, The Rock has been rumored to be attached to a Shazam project as Black Adam, but only recently have we had the film confirmed for DC’s slate and Johnson was torn between the roles of Shazam and Black Adam. But now it is official.

No further details on the film have been released at this time.
