Stan Lee Claims a Black Panther Movie is in the Works

Stan Lee has apparently (supposedly) confirmed that Marvel Studios will be doing a Black Panther film! Now, we here at Comic Related are not sure how accurate this story is, or how much Mr. Lee is in the know about the upcoming movie slate for Marvel Studios. However, according to comments he made at Fan Expo Canada, via Comic Book Resources, he did very bluntly state that Black Panther is one of the films in the works as he was speaking about Black Widow:

“The chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and the Black Panther, and there are others I am not allowed to talk about.”

That quote more than implies the veracity of the existence of a Black Panther film. We, of course, know about Ant-Man, it is officially slated for 2015. And we’ve been hearing casting talk about Doctor Strange for a while now as well. But Black Panther has never been soldily confirmed, even though there are several unclaimed yet reserved dates on Marvel Studios’ film schedule.

With the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, a film not containing superhero characters known well by a mainstream audience, the door is wide open for fringe characters like Doctor Strange and Black Panther. Still, until Marvel Studios officially confirms Lee’s comments, we are left to speculate.
