Stephanie Brown Returns to the DCU

Stephanie Brown will return to DC Comics.

The character will make her first appearance since 2011’s New 52 reboot, following vocal demands from fans, it was revealed at New York Comic Con.

A ‘Gothtopia’ crossover is also coming to the Batman family books.

“We know that they’re characters that you guys have been really vocal about,” writer Scott Snyder said during the Batman panel (via Comic Book Resources).

“You guys’ love of Stephanie Brown has been so inspiring to us. We’re really proud to announce that she’ll be coming back in [new weekly series Batman: Eternal], in a big way. Dan DiDio is in the audience to yell at us for telling you that.

“No-one was trying to shelve her. It was more about finding the right time to reintroduce her.”

‘Gothtopia’ was revealed in DC’s January solicitations. It will launch in Detective Comics #27 and continue in the pages of Batgirl, Batwing, Birds of Prey and Catwoman.

It apparently deals with an alternate reality version of Gotham, one in which Catwoman fights crime as ‘Catbird’ and Batwing is the city’s protector.

Former Batgirl Brown was previously described by DC co-publisher DiDio as one of the company’s “toxic” characters.
