FROM MTV GEEK: Marvel’s Phase Three movies remain largely unknown. “Ant-Man” arrives in November 2015, and a slew of release dates are already on hold for Marvel past that — but the exact titles remain unclear.
If Marvel legend Stan Lee is to be believed, however, we may know two of Marvel’s upcoming mystery projects: “Doctor Strange” and “Black Panther.”
Speaking with MTV Geek, Lee revealed his belief that Marvel will eventually get to “everything we have” in the House of Ideas’ extensive catalogue, dropping the two unannounced titles as evidence.
“Back at Marvel, they are frantically looking for what is the next one they’re going to do,” he said. “There is no way they won’t eventually do a Silver Surfer movie. It may not be for a few years because they’re thinking and working on Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything we have. And the fans seem to want all of them.”
The casual mention of “Doctor Strange” and “Black Panther” suggests that Lee knows something we don’t about Marvel Studios’ third phase of films. Perhaps an announcement is coming as soon as this month’s Comic-Con.
Lee spoke more about the history of Marvel on film, saying he only dislikes one big-screen interpretation of his famous characters: Doctor Doom.
“I wasn’t happy with the way Doctor Doom was portrayed in ‘Fantastic Four,'” he said. “I love the movies but he wasn’t the Doctor Doom I have known and loved. Other than that, I love the movies … we’re very lucky we have wonderful directors, the greatest actors and the movies turned out good.”
