Abe Sapien: The Dark and Terrible

Dark Horse Comics has announced Abe Sapien: The Dark and Terrible.

The series will be written by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Scott Allie with art by Sebastian Fiumara.

It will continue the adventures of the B.P.R.D. member into the ‘Hell on Earth’ setting.

“Since he’s been down it’s just gotten worse and worse, more monsters, more cities lost. We’ve seen a breakdown of the major infrastructures of the US, and some other countries have it even worse,” Allie told Robot 6. “Hellboy died somewhere along the way.

“The changes to the Earth sort of mirror the changes in Abe’s own anatomy – he’s continued to mutate – leaving some in the B.P.R.D. to suspect that what’s happening to the world is connected to what’s happening to Abe. This has been suggested by some mystical characters in the series, so now the government guys are wondering, too.”

Last year saw a huge increase in the number of B.P.R.D. miniseries being released by Dark Horse, with a new numbering system introduced to help fans keep them in order.

Abe Sapien: The Dark and Terrible will debut on April 3 and feed into a new maxi-series following the character’s journey across America.
