The Wolverine Starts Filming in Vancouver this November
The Wolverine has been through some fits and starts, but it looks like Hugh Jackman’s superhero not-a-sequel is finally getting into berserker mode.
Production on the 20th Century Fox film is reportedly getting underway in Vancouver, Canada in mid-November, reports The Vancouver Sun. According to the report, shooting on the second “Wolverine” solo movie will take place from November 11 through March 1, 2012 at Canadian Motion Picture Park, where scenes from the “Twilight” and “Fantastic Four” movies were filmed.
If the report is accurate, then Jackman was only one month off when he revealed in late June that production would begin on “The Wolverine” this October; it’s a small difference in the end. “Wolverine,” which previously had “Black Swan” filmmaker Darren Aronofsky attached to direct, will now be directed by “3:10 To Yuma” director James Mangold, who has earned considerable praise from Jackman himself.
“There were a number of directors who wanted to do this because we have the best script yet, but his take was the strongest,” Jackman told MTV News of Mangold during San Diego Comic-Con this summer. “He’s phenomenal, he’s going to really knock this one out of the park.”
“Darren wanted to call it ‘The Wolverine’ and I want to keep that, because to me this is going to feel like ‘The Wolverine.’” Jackman added, “This is the one that in 20 years time I want to say, ‘Check this out.’”
Whether or not the Vancouver production means that plans to film in Japan have been completely scrapped remains unclear.
