Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hires Mission Impossible Writers

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol scribes Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec have been hired to rewrite the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles script initially penned by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, according to Deadline. The pair previously collaborated on Louis Letterier’s upcoming film Now You See Me.

The most recent reports had the film pegged to be a hybrid of live-action and CGI effects, with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form producing the film.

Back in August, the film looked to be on the fast track at Paramount, with the hiring of the Iron Man duo intended to facilitate a 2012 release. there’s been little word since then, however, and no director has been attached to the project at this point.

One thing that does seem certain, however, is that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will return to the small screen next year in the form of a new animated series on Nickelodeon. If that seems like a long time to wait for more TMNT adventures, don’t worry — there’s also a new comic book series scheduled to debut this August from IDW Publishing. TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will lead the comic’s creative team.
