Duncan Jones Confirms The Wolverine Talks

After Darren Aronofsky departed the director’s chair of The Wolverine last month, rumors have been rampant as to who could replace the award-winning director for Logan’s second outing. And it looks like one of the directors in the running is The Source Code filmmaker Duncan Jones.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, the up-and-coming director revealed that he is in talks with — or is planning to talk to — the “Wolverine” studio in the coming days.

“Who knows what’ll be coming up next – I have a lot of meetings and catching-up to do when I get back to LA,” explained the director, who later confirmed that one would be with 20th Century Fox about “The Wolverine.”

Jones popped up at last weekend’s Kapow! convention in England, where he was very positive about Marvel’s anti-hero.

“[Wolverine is] more interesting to me than Batman,” Jones told IGN at the event. “A good Wolverine film could be an amazing thing.”

Since Jones’ feature film debut in 2009’s “Moon”, he has been on many short lists for comic book adaptations and genre films. At one point he was in talks to direct a reboot of “Judge Dredd,” as well as being one of the finalists for “Man of Steel” before Zack Snyder was chosen.

For his next project, the British director is hoping to do an original story titled “Mute”, which he describes as a “Blade Runner-esque” story set in a future Berlin.
