Florida Store Bans Alan Moore Comic

A comics shop in Florida has banned Alan Moore’s latest Avatar Press title.

Secret Headquarters in Tallahassee will no longer stock Moore and artist Jacen Burrow’s Neonomicon after viewing the content of the second issue, reports Bleeding Cool.

“Due to the pornographic content in this issue, Secret Headquarters is sad to announce that we will not be offering it for sale, on the shelf or to subscribers,” said the shop in a statement. “We also will not be carrying any further issues of this series.

“Secret Headquarters is deeply dismayed that Alan Moore continues to use his reputation as a quality comics author to promote his bizarre sexual philosophies.”

Neonomicon is the latest in a series of H.P. Lovecraft inspired titles produced by the Watchmen writer for Avatar.

I’m left wondering what this store then stocks. I know that Avatar do push the envelope some times but they are not comics that are marketed at kids. I’ve enjoyed all the Avatar I have read and that is including Neonomicon.  If people don’t have the idea that people do like these books and that they shouldn’t be pushing their ideas on the public is the wrong thing to do.

If I was in Florida I’d know what shop I wouldn’t be buying from!
