Wonder Woman TV Series in Development

Those of you waiting for a live-action Wonder Woman movie might need to wait a little bit longer — but that’s not to say that the Amazon warrior isn’t receiving a live-action treatment of a different kind.

Deadline reports that DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television are collaborating on an all new “Wonder Woman” television series. “The Practice” and “Ally McBeal” creator David E. Kelley is attached to write and produce the series, and is said to be “interested in tackling a contemporary take on the World War II-era Amazon.”

At this point, it’s currently unclear whether or not this latest “Wonder Woman” television adaptation will remain faithful to some of the character’s most iconic attributes, including her costume, indestructible bracelets, her Lasso of Truth and the invisible airplane. Those details are currently under wraps.

This isn’t the first time that Diana Prince has headed to the small screen, as Lynda Carter famously played the DC Comics icon in “The New Adventures of Wonder Woman,” an ABC series that aired from 1975 through 1979. Another live-action television attempt was made nearly a decade ago under the guidance of “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” creator Deborah Joy LeVine.

The developing television series doesn’t take plans off the table for a “Wonder Woman” feature film adaptation either, as DC Entertainment is expected to announce a slate of superhero films by the end of the year. A “Wonder Woman” movie could very well be included in the lineup.
