Guns of Shadow Valley

Guns of Shadow Valley

Guns of Shadow Valley is a great web comic that comes out every Tuesday from David Wachter and James Andrew Clark. and recently has been nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic.

So what’s it about I hear you say… Well I can say it as well as they have it on their website so:

Somewhere in the mysterious Shadow Valley lies a secret that could forever change the face of the frontier. To protect that secret, a posse of gunmen with special abilities must come together and defend against a tribe of ghostly warriors, an advancing army led by a deranged Colonel, and the perils of the valley itself.

The Guns of Shadow Valley is an exciting new Western adventure series from the creators of Scar Tissue. Set in the 1870s in the Oklahoma Territories, Guns is a tale of intrigue and adventure that puts a new spin on the Old West.

Now to be fair I haven’t been a western fan at all through my life but with my RPG past I was into Deadlands which was described as a western world where Cthulhu had taken control, so I thought I’d give this a look as I loved Daves work on Scar Tissue and he had also agreed a few years ago to do an 11 question interview with me.

That being said I love this comic. We’re introduced into our cast of characters who all seem to have some form of strange ability like Frank who is the fastest gun in the west but if he didn’t drink he’d be the best shot, Wurm who can Beltch Fire and a Chinese Railway worker who’s strength we haven’t seen a limit to yet.

This is a comic that could get me more interested in the genre and with every week I’m left wondering what is happening in this world with the Valley itself, what will happen with the child who walked out of the burning house without a scratch.

If your only reading one web comic then this is the one for you.

Apart from how good the comic is, Dave also has been doing a comment competition on the website where if you place a comment you have the chance on winning a free sketch. I was lucky enough to win one from him which you can see below is Tiger Lily from the comic Kabuki and also I have some of his sketch cards of Grendel and Argent that sit on my desk at work.

So go over and check it out and leave a comment on the new page and you might win something!
