Iron Man 2
I’ve finally had the chance to see Iron Man 2 and I was blown away with what I saw. Since I got into the theatre a week after it had came out I was trying to keep away with all reviews and mentions of it but I have to say I loved the movie.
Robert Downey Jr did a great version of Tony as expected with him playing more scenes from his life but with a powered suit added into the mix. I like how they established that the whole movie (apart from the 6 month jump at the start takes part in a week. You don’t know the time line of it until the end of the movie when it’s mentioned. Also it was great seeing that Black Widow was doing more spy work rather than running around in a jump suit beating up people. I think she was used correctly since she is a spy first and uses violence only when needed.
The big surprise for me was Mickey Rourke as Whiplash as since his return to acting I’ve been loving the roles that he has done. And from all reports he had brought all you would expect from a twisted Russian Genius who is only there to point out that Iron Man can be taken down and is not a god like figure that the rest of the world sees him to be.
Now I haven’t read much Iron Man at all in my comic reading so I don’t know how close the characters are to their comic counterparts but the most comic style character would have to be Justin Hammer who seems to be constantly trying to be the type of playboy that Tony is and fails tremendously at doing so.
I’m not going to go into the plots of the movie since it has only just came out and if most people like me are at the whims of family you’ll be trying to find time for it.
Overall I think this movie was better than the first. The Hammer Suits were great and how Whiplash manipulated everyone is fantastic.
