According to Digital Spy, DC Comics has announced the return of its popular animated Batman Beyond television series as a comics miniseries next year.
DC’s executive editor Dan DiDio revealed the company’s intentions while answering fans’ questions on Newsarama.
When asked about future plans for Batman Beyond star Terry McGinnis, DiDio said: “There will be a Terry McGinnis miniseries early next year.
“We’ve heard the fans, we’ve heard everyone’s interest. And right now we’re planning to put out a Batman Beyond miniseries in 2010.”
The animated Batman Beyond series (known in the UK as Batman of the Future) debuted in 1999.
It tells the story of McGinnis, a delinquent youth living in Neo-Gotham in 2039 who takes up the mantle of Batman under the guidance of the aging original caped crusader Bruce Wayne.
